Crime Analysis of the Metropolitan Region of Santiago de Chile: A Spatial Panel Data Approach

The aim of our work is to determine the influence that socio-economic and demographic factors have had on crimes taken place during period 2010–2018 in communes Metropolitan Region Chile, as well existence possible spatial or temporal effects. We address 12 kinds crime we grouped into two main types: against people property. Our interest focuses people, using property an additional covariate order investigate broken-windows phenomenon this context. model chosen for analysis a panel with fixed results highlight covariates such infant mortality, birth rate, poverty green areas significant people. Regarding spatio-temporal covariates, one effect observed there displacement towards neighbouring communes, leaving open new line study discover causes displacement.
